Good Evening,
Just wanted to let you all know the blog is updated. I hope you had a terrific day off yesterday. It's a day that always touches my heart and makes me even more thankful for my family and Dr. King's bravery through adversity.
A BIG thank you to George Weston, Amber Rockwood, and Kim Friedman for helping in the science lab today!!! ...If any of you or your children are more interested in learning about fossils, the Tellus museum in Cartersville has a great section to dig for fossils from Morocco. You can also pan for gems, see an extensive gemstone collection, and check out some dinosaur fossils! They even have a Megalodon jaw for all my shark fanatics. *If you're a Bank of America customer (or Merrill Lynch) you can get free cardholder access on the first full weekend each month! http://museums.bankofamerica.com/
Math- In math we are continuing to look at polygons and how to partition them. We are having an added focus on vocabulary in regards to partition (divide equally), horizontal (side to side) and vertical (top to bottom). We will begin our study guide this week (for our Unit test next Thursday) and we will celebrate the 100th day of school on Friday! :)
Reading- In reading and language arts we are studying literal vs. nonliteral language (idioms- She woke up on the wrong side of the bed.), and we are looking at dialogue and how to use quotations in our writing. We have introduced 'tags' with dialogue by drawing price tag (replicas) under our tags. For example, "She is so fun to be around," said Jonie. (picture here) Said Jonie is the 'tag' and we are trying to remember that dialogue needs to have a tag in order to know who is speaking.
Science- This week we are finishing up our fossil unit on Thursday. We will begin learning about Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt in the next two weeks.
