Good Monday Morning!!
Only 2 more Mondays to go! (Whoa! Where is the time going?) Upcoming Dates- Wed 10th Final Science Lab 1:15-2 Please have your child bring gloves to school for the lab. Friday 19th Field Day Please bring a change of clothes in a shopping bag for your child as their clothing may get wet. I will send a reminder email to remind you if you chose to pack a lunch or buy a school lunch. :) Math- This week the study guide will come home on Wednesday. We are focusing on 2D & 3D shapes as well as fractions. RELA- Writing is still realistic fiction. We are starting superhero writing this week and can't wait to see what creative writing they will come up with. We are focusing on complete sentences and reviewing nouns, verbs, and adjectives. We are also looking a the central theme in stories which has led us to look at fables. :) Science- We are continuing to focus on economics. The children are learning about saving vs. spending. PS- Thank you for all the love and treats this week. It was very surprising and uplifting to see my door decorated this morning!!! Not to mention the adorable book that was put together. I got a kick out of seeing what the kids thought I said often. ;) Math - This week in math we are focusing on composite shapes (when you use different shapes to create a shape) and we will begin to look at fractions (just 1/2 and 1/4). Children had fun today working in class with different pattern blocks to create new shapes. This is something they will be asked to do on their assessment at the end of the unit.
English/Language Arts/Writing- We are continuing to work on our realistic fiction writing. The children are really getting into writing a made up story. In reading, we are continuing to ask/answer questions that relate to a story by referring back to the story. We are also still working on using complete sentences and the appropriate punctuation. :) Science/Social Studies.- Our unit on George Washington Carver has already come to an end, and today we will begin our unit on economy. :) One thing we will talk about this week is producer and consumer, and hopefully we will be able to learn about goods and services as well. **Our school is trying to collect books for the children at Mimosa Elementary. This is an initiative from our Student Council. I have created a class goal to have each child bring in 1 book. If we have a total of 23 books by May 12th, we will have a popsicle party!!! If you have any old books that your child(ren) would like to donate, please send them in. Thanks for your help in reaching our goal. Dates to Remember May 10th- last science lab of the year 1:15-2pm May 19th Fielld Day & last graded papers will go home for the year May 22nd PBIS reward (lunch outside w/extra recess) May 24th End of Year party!!!! 11-12 May 25th Last Day of School :( |
