Welcome back!!! Oh my goodness, can you believe Spring break is over? The school year sure is flying by. I hope you all had a restful week off and wonderful holidays this past week/weekend.
Dates to Remember:
Milestone’s testing is going on this week and next. Thank you for remembering there are no visitors during this time.
Wed 26th-Family Focus
Math- In math, we are continuing to work on place value, and comparing numbers. We have been working on word problems this week as well as problems involving dimes/pennies to help with the concept of place value. The study guide will be coming home tomorrow and the assessment will be on Tuesday, April 25th.
RELA- We are focusing on retelling a text, and prepositions. There are two adorable videos (that the kids LOVE). I have included their links here.

With regards to writing, we are working on our realistic fiction genre. The children are really excited about this writing and are wanting/starting to already write books in a series! :-0
Science/Social Studies- We are studying Theodore Roosevelt (but we are about to move on to George Washington Carver-not to be confused with George Washington. J as all the kids believe.) Do you know how the Teddy bear got started? Ask your child and he/she should be able to tell you.
Placement tests- As noted in the SLICE placement tests are beginning. We will be giving placement assessments from now through May. These assessments are not something that students should study for or prepare for, they are pre-test for next year in the subject areas of Reading and Math. You will receive a letter with your child's report card letting you know your child's score and their placement recommendations for next year. If you have further questions about placement assessments, please email Barbara Bell, Curriculum Support Teacher, at [email protected].
Keep an eye out for field day volunteers because that is quickly approaching. J
Thank you for all your support! J
