Reading/LA This week in writing we are discussing how to find big ideas to write about for our opinion piece. To help us find big ideas we have been reading tradebooks. One book we read this week was The Bee Tree by Patricia Polacco. The big idea for this book was that reading is an adventure. Some other big ideas we have explored are: growing up isn't easy, you have to give people a chance, and always reach to do the impossible. We are discovering that we are also authors that have big ideas in our own writing. As far as grammar skills go, we are looking at dictionary skills, and we are revisiting adjectives and adverbs.
Social Studies- We are studying economy and learning the basic vocabulary such as scarcity, opportunity cost, benefit, goods, services, producer and consumer.
**We are having difficulty with the printers and copiers this week as school. Therefore, if you need an additional homework sheet (for ELA) or any other reason, I apologize, but I do not have a paper copy to give. I have tried to put things on the website that you may need (that I'm able to.)
**Please remember to return your child's homework sheet on Friday along with their homework book. We will be doing an in class book report next week based on these books.
