What a wonderful first few weeks it has been! We've learned all about complete sentences, and naming and telling parts. We have also been working on place value and numbers up to 120, as well as grouping objects in sets of 10. In addition to that, we have learned about light sources and shadows. These weeks have really passed quickly.
This upcoming week, we will be learning about the following.
Math- We will match numbers to number words, practice counting from any given number between 0 and 120, and fill in numbers on a hundreds chart when only given random numbers.
Reading/ELA-In reading I will be assessing DRA levels to have a better picture of your child's reading level. As soon as these are completed I will let you know so you are able to get books at the library that are your child's independent (can read on their own without help) level. In class we will continue to ask and answer questions about a fiction text. With regards to language, we will start learning the difference between asking and telling sentences. I will also informally be working on articles (a, an, the) in front of nouns. With writing, we are beginning our small moments (narrative writing). This is a small moment in time (not a whole day) in which they will be writing about. It helps us pull out details.
Science/SS- TJ!!!! This week begins our two week unit on Thomas Jefferson. We will learn who he was and begin to learn about how he contributed to our country. We will also get to take a peek at his house Monticello. Did you know he LOVED to read? Maybe his passion of reading will spill over onto all our kiddos. :)
*In regards to ixl & Raz Kids. There will be a specific sheet for you to sign off on regarding these websites. Until this sheet is sent home, I will not be assigning or sending home any ixl or RazKids homework.(RazKids can always be used as their nightly 10 minutes of reading if you choose to use it at home.)
