Math-We are working on rounding to the nearest 10 and 100. We will also be rounding using word problems. In addition, we will focus on estimating sums & differences.
*Tonight your child's homework book came home with them. This is to stay at home (or in their backpack if you prefer.) Children will be responsible to tear out their math page and bring it to school the following day. If an assignment says P, then they only need to do the P side (as the front and back of each page are the same number.) If it says R, then only the R side needs completed. Otherwise, I will write R & P as their assignment.
Reading: This week we are looking at character's traits, feelings, and motivation. We are also looking at homographs, commands vs. exclamations. Additionally we are discussing simple subjects, and simple predicates. This week your child will have spelling and vocabulary. This is listed on their homework menu that came home today. There are different spelling lists within the class, so be sure that you keep track of this sheet. A friend of theirs may not have the same spelling list. The menu needs completed as their homework throughout the week and is due on Friday.
Science-We are continuing to work on the habitats of Georgia. We will focus on the Coastal plains and Atlantic Ocean/Barrier Islands this week.
***Thursday we will browse the Book Fair at 12:20-12:40. (We will purchase on Tuesday Sept. 2nd @ 12:20-12:40.)
***Friday is Grandparents/Special Friends Day from 9:10-9:40. This will be in our classroom. Feel free to bring a grandparent or special friend to come see our class. We will be doing an activity with our grandparent/special friend. Not to worry if your child does not have a 'special friend', as I will be more than happy to be their friend. :0)
